Joe has used various guitars throughout his career. Below are
some example of what Joe is currently playing.

ESP Joe Stump Custom S
This guitar has a Alder body, scalloped 21 fret maple neck with
Dunlop 6000 frets. It has a DiMarzio HS-3 in the bridge and a
DiMarzio YJM in the neck. The middle pickup is a stock ESP single
coil. Other variations on the "S style" theme is a Graphite
Nut which provides low friction and locking tuners helping to
keep the guitar in tune after Joe's heavy tremolo bar abuse.

ESP Custom S Style
As above this guitar has a Alder body finished in a vintage white
(cream colour). The neck on this guitar is 22 frets deeply scalloped
and fitted with Dunlop 6000 frets. The pickup configuration is
the same as above (fitted to a pearloid scratchplate) as is the
graphite nut and locking tuners. A very classy looking guitar.

ESP Floyd Rose Custom S Style
This guitar features a white Alder body fitted with a Gold Original
Floyd Rose tremolo and locking nut. It has 22 fret scalloped rosewood
fretboard (once again with Dunlop 6000 frets) and the pickup configuration
sees a DiMarzio Fast Track 1 in the bridge and a DiMarzio YJM
in the neck.

ESP

Special thanks to Matt Masciandaro
and everyone at ESP for making such outstanding high quality instruments.
Joe owns a ton of Fender Stratocasters from many different years
as well as some Blackmore and Malmsteen signature models and these
guitars out class them all.

Joe has been an avid Marshall
user over the years. Mainly utilizing early 70's 50 watt Non
Master volume heads (Mk.II and JMP models) as used by Yngwie
Malmsteen. Joe also uses late 1970's 50 watt Master Volume heads
characterized by their white piping and larger Marshall logo,
these amps are responsible for Michael Schenker's huge sound
heard on UFO and early MSG recordings..
Joe also has an early 70`s 100 watt Super Lead
Mark II that sounds massive when really opened up (very Gary
Moore Corridors Of Power sounding).

Joe's most recent addition to his set up is an
Engl Ritchie Blackmore signature head which
sounds unbelievably good with tremendous tone at all volume
levels with great dynamics. This amp can be heard on Conquer
& Divide.
Live Joe uses the Engl Blackmore head in conjunction
with 1 or 2 Marshall 50 watt non master volume Mk.II's as pictured
below.
For cabinets Joe has some of the older basket
weave Marshall 4x12`s with 30 watt Greenback
Celestions and also some newer Marshall cabinets with the 75
watt Celestion speakers. He uses them both depending on
the head.

As of May 2002 Joe has become an endorser of
Rhino amplification. Joe features heavily on the company's
website showcasing both the 100 watt head The Beast
(seen above) and the Yngwie Malmsteen Black Star 50
watt head. Joe is very impressed with the quality of
the product and the sound that the Rhinos produce.

Joe's pedal board is relatively
simple. He prefers floor stomp boxes to rack gear. The most
utilized
piece in the chain below is the DOD 250 Overdrive/Preamp which is
used to slam the front end of the amps.
-
DOD 250 overdrive pre-amp.
-
Dunlop crybaby wah-wah.
-
Bob Gjika Hot Box tube
preamp.
-
Boss NS-2 Noise gate.
-
Boss DD-3 digital delay.
-
Korg SDD - 2000 digital
delay.
-
Boss CE-3 chorus.
-
Boss CS-2 compressor/sustainer.
-
Boss BF-2 Flanger.
-
Boss octave box.
Joe uses Dean Markley strings gauge 008, .011,
.014, .024, .032, .046 and 1.5mm Dunlop Delrin picks.
